Dear Practices
RE: Process for extra contractual patient transport requests (where the provider has no contract in place covering patient transport)
Further to the email sent last month, London Ambulance Service has advised that as of Monday 30 April, they will no longer be providing patient transport. Therefore going forward requests will need to made using the G4S form. See updated guidance which overrides the previous version circulated.
It is important that requests are only made for patients that meet the criteria and that requests are sent through no later than 7 days in advance of the date the transport is required. We have also outlined which Trusts/sites arrange transport for appointments for services they provide so that you know who to contact for these.
We have set up a dedicated email address for booking forms for extra contractual transport requests to be sent to - bhrccgs.patienttransport@nhs.net - and once approved by the CCGs this will be returned to the practice to make the booking directly with G4S via fax. This will ensure any queries or changes to bookings can be dealt with directly between the practice and transport provider.
Please can you ensure all practice staff that are involved with booking patient transport are aware of this revised process.
We hope that by providing this guidance it will make the booking of patient transport easier for practice staff but should you have any queries please send these to the bhrccgs.patienttransport@nhs.net.
Kind regards
