Redbridge CCG is proposing to change the way it commissions beds at Meadow Court, a nursing home in Goodmayes, Redbridge which is run by Care UK. As fewer people with dementia and physical health needs are choosing to be cared for at Meadow Court, there are lots of empty beds at the home. This means that due to the contract we hold we are paying for a large number of beds which are empty, and we have been unable to fill. The cost of these 34 empty beds is £2.44m a year.
It is clear this home is no longer what most people are looking for; they are choosing to get the care they, or their family member, need elsewhere. We cannot afford to continue to pay for these empty beds. For these reasons we are proposing to end our contract with Meadow Court and support patients to choose and move to an alternative home in the area.
Please read our full proposal and complete the accompanying questionnaire to give us your feedback on our proposal by 27 October 2017.
Supporting patients
We appreciate that moving people with dementia is not an easy decision, and we want to reassure you that patients’ wellbeing is our first priority. We will be speaking to those who live at the home to make sure they are aware of the proposed changes and have their say.
