Practices are encouraged to sign up to the scheme to support them to deliver ECGs within the practice by offering an instant interpretation of the ECG and development of an appropriate treatment plan whilst the patient is in the practice.
Training and ECG equipment is provided free by Broomwell and practices are paid £5.50 for each ECG requested.
Pathway:
• The GP assesses a patient and deems an ECG necessary
• An ECG within the practice is arranged
• The ECG is immediately sent to Broomwell, via the telephone
• One of 20 specialist clinicians in the Broomwell team will interpret the ECG
• A clinician contacts the practice to discuss the ECG and discuss a treatment plan. This is followed by a written report.
Contact Kam Sahota on kamaldeepsahota@nhs.net if your practice would like to sign up to the scheme.
The service was introduced in April 2014 to all Barking and Dagenham Practices.
