Plans are currently being finalised for a more personalised NEL wide webinar to support the Oximetry @Home and Covid Virtual wards.
Pulse Oximeters have been issued to practices – or most practices by now – and NHSE want to know how their use with Covid-19 patients at home (CO@home) is improving care. The key purpose of the Pulse Oximeters at home is to spot the early deterioration of patients and support appropriate and timely hospital admission.
The plan for reporting longer term is to automate it with appropriate coding. NHS Digital are looking at this. But in the meantime we need to do two data returns a week. You will be asked for data returns each Monday and Thursday, the deadlines for returns is 3pm on Tuesday and Friday.
The data questions we need you to return are set out in the table in the download area.
If all your administration, issue and return, of Pulse Oximeters for Covid-19 patients is carried out by your Federation then you may say this offering a return marked “All managed by the Federation”. However, if your practice does issue Pulse Oximeters to patients, please complete the form as requested. The CCGs will also link with Federations to obtain their data as well.
It is recommended that you complete this quickly with the information you have to hand. We understand that practices are setting up their processes to hand-out and return Pulse Oximeters to Covid-19 patients and data will strengthen as we move forward. The next return will be Friday 22 January (end of this week).
Below is summary information on the service aims and pathway for use in your surgery. This will develop in the immediate weeks and you will receive updated information when that occurs.
