Clinical leads for mental health from the CCGs and NELFT have shared evidence-based advice and guidance to help GPs support patients who may be in need of ongoing psychological help following the fire at Barking Riverside on 6 June.
Dr Raj Kumar, the CCGs’ Clinical Lead for mental health, and Dr Syed Ali Naqvi, Clinical Lead for NELFT’s IAPT service in BHR have thanked GPs for referrals already made to the Talking Therapies service. They set out typical symptoms that patients affected by the incident could show up to four weeks after a trauma, and explain the potential impact on those with pre-existing mental illness.
