The London Infection Prevention and Control audit tool is commissioned from NEL CSU, by NHS England on behalf of London CCGs and forms part of the London Primary Care Commissioning Operating Model. The tool supports GP providers to meet required IPC standards and provides assurance to commissioners that GP contract holders are meeting contractual obligations and has been a consistent resource utilised during visits since its introduction in 2013. NEL CSU is commissioned to provide audit visits to general practices across all boroughs of London and during 2019-20, 17% of practices are being audited (15% proactive and 2% reactive), for each borough (CCG area).
The tool has recently been revised to take into account changes in standards, legislation and learning, together with learning from more than 6 months of piloting during 2018-19 and subsequent engagement with London LMCs representatives.
The updated version of the tool is attached for your reference, together with a copy of the template invitation letter, which is sent to practices that are offered an audit visit. Please note, this email and attachments are for your information and reference only and is not an invitation for an IPC visit, at this stage.
