As part of the ongoing work by health and social care partners to improve urgent and emergency care services in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge (BHR), the CCGs are now looking in detail at how we can improve community urgent care services.
These are the services that local people visit when they need or want urgent same-day care or treatment (not emergency care which is provided in a medical emergency when life or long term health is at risk). Community urgent care services include walk-in centres (Harold Wood and Loxford Polyclinics, and the walk in services at Barking Community Hospital and South Hornchurch), our seven GP access hubs across BHR, GP out of hours services, and Urgent Care Centres.
At your July meetings, the Governing Bodies of all three of our CCGs discussed a case for change. The report is now available to the public as part of the Governing Body papers on our CCG website.
