Message from our CCGs Chairs, Jagan John, Atul Aggarwal and Anil Mehta, Ceri Jacob – Managing Director BHR CCGs and Jane Milligan – Accountable Officer NELCA
Today NHS England announced the 2019/20 assurance results for CCGs. Conducted each year, the assurance process make sure that CCGs are commissioning safe, high quality and cost effective services, to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients. NHS England makes assessment of the CCGs against a range of components which reflect the key elements of a well led, effective CCG.
We are delighted to report that in north east London our results have improved:
The three BHR CCGs have moved from requires improvement to good. Over the last three years we have seen a gradual improvement and today’s results reinforce how much we can achieve by working together and across the north east London system. Thank you to everyone involved for their phenomenal efforts over the past three years.
Two of our seven CCGs – City and Hackney CCG and Tower Hamlets CCG - are now rated outstanding, out of only four outstanding CCGs across all of London.
These improved ratings reflect the incredible journey we’ve been on in the past few years as we’ve gone from Havering CCG being rated inadequate, all three CCGs being rated ‘requires improvement’ in 2018/19 and now all being ‘good’. This is a significant achievement and one we could not have achieved without working together to make improvements as a system and by the hard work of all CCG staff. I know it has been difficult at times, but your contributions have made a real difference. Thank you.
We are encouraged by the feedback provided by NHS England in understanding what we are doing well, and where further improvements can be made. We look forward to continuing to work together with our partners across north east London to improve the health and wellbeing of local people, ensuring that local people have access to the best quality services possible.
Thank you and well done to all staff on achieving such a fantastic result. You should all be very proud of what you’ve achieved and do keep up the good work.
