As you will be aware, Barts Health NHS Trust has experienced unexpected computer equipment failure which disrupted the Imaging RIS and PACS from 20/4/17 to 4/5/17. RIS manages imaging requests and appointments; PACS enables images to be viewed, reported via voice recognition and stored.
During this disruption the Imaging department at the Trust continued to operate services as much as possible. Both Imaging systems have now been restored and we are working hard to recover our business as usual position as soon as possible.
Please note that patients scanned from 05/05/17 onwards will be reported as usual although there may be some slight delay due to the resulting backlog.
There are a number of images taken during the disruption which have to be retrieved from the archive before they can be reported, unfortunately we cannot give a definite timeline for this. We will update you when we have further information. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience.
A dedicated email inbox managedĀ on a daily basis by the clinical harm programme team has been set up at bhnt.waitingtimesinfo@nhs.net for local GPs to raise concerns of possible harm from delays.
If you have a case which is clinically urgent please speak with a Consultant Radiologist.
