More than 31,000 women will be offered kits to carry out smear tests at home in a trial to improve cervical screening rates. Swab tests will be provided for women aged 25 to 64 years who are 15 months overdue for their screening appointment in areas of London where take-up is low. If the home test detects HPV, women will be invited to attend their GP practice for a standard smear test as a follow-up.
