GPs are asked to make sure they are following the gynaecology pathways that were developed under ‘Improving Referrals Together’ (IRT). These clinically developed pathways were jointly agreed between BHR CCGs and BHRUT, with appropriate red flags and compliance.

IRT puts local clinicians in the driving seat to support improved quality of referrals to hospital – both by GPs and consultant to consultant - along with better advice and guidance and improved patient experience. The aim is to ensure that when individuals do need to be referred to a specialist service, that they see the right consultant, along with all relevant information at hand, first time, and with better feedback to GPs from secondary care.
