It has been brought to our attention that there have been attendances by patients to the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) for post op wound care. Post op wound care is not part of the UTC remit.
We would like to remind practices in Redbridge and Barking and Dagenham (B&D) that Practices that have signed up for the Post OP LIS should be managing their patients at their Practice. Practices who have not signed up for the LIS should be using the inter-referral systems in place. Please see guidance for B&D.
If your Practice signed up for the Post Op LIS but now does not have the capacity to do so, please can you let Solma Khatoon know by emailing solma.khatoon@nhs.net
In Havering the Hurley Group Provide a Post Op wound care service from the Harold Wood Polyclinic for all practices in Havering to refer into. Appointments can be booked by phoning.
Tel: 0203 416 7711.In some circumstances, patients are able to have their wounds treated at the UTC instead of being redirected. See below for the when this is appropriate.
Urgent Wound Dressing at the UTC
If a patient presents with the below wound care requirements they may be seen at the UTC
Furthermore, unregistered patients who live in Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge and Havering can be seen at the UTC as there is nowhere to redirect these patients.
Redirection of Wound Care
If a patient presents with the below wound care requirements between Monday to Friday they should be redirected back to their practice or in the case of Havering back to the Hurley Group.
However, during out of hours and the weekend, a UTC may see the patient if they feel that the wound needs urgent attention or will deteriorate if it is not dealt with at that time. This will be until further notice.
The UTC streamers will be redirecting patients back to the Practice or to the Hurley Group to manage or to refer to the appropriate service from 26 October 2020.
