Please be advised that the Cardiology polling range within E-RS is being reduced to enable the Trust to book urgent patients as a priority and then book the remaining patients in chronological order from Monday 17th February 2020.
The polling range determines how many weeks into the future appointments can be viewed and booked. Appointments will now be ‘deferred to provider’ to be triaged and booked appropriately, and you will no longer be able to view booking slots for future cardiology clinic slots.
All future referrals will be triaged for appropriateness and prioritised according to the cardiologists assessment of need and urgency within 14 days of receipt. It is essential that all relevant information is included in the referral letter and any attachments, to enable the triage process to be conducted safely and effectively. If cardiologists need to make requests for GPs to send additional information, this will inevitably slow down the triage process.
Please continue to refer and book, or defer to provider as normal. The referral process remains unchanged, and the polling will remain at this level for 6 months and then be reviewed.
