Don’t get caught out, there’s still time to prepare for your CQC re-inspection.
GP practices, particularly those with an ‘inadequate’ or ‘requires improvement’ rating, are strongly urged to use the support from the CCG and others to help them prepare for their imminent CQC visit.
It is your responsibility to respond to areas of concern identified in your CQC report develop an action plan to make the recommended improvements.

If your practice has been placed into special measures or was awarded an ‘inadequate’ rating for a key question or population group, you will be re-inspected within six months.
The RCGP offers a peer support programme for practices placed in special measures. It provides a package of expert professional advice, support and peer mentoring from senior GPs, practice managers and nurse practitioners with specialist expertise in quality improvement, co-ordinated by the RCGP. The CCGs are currently undertaking a pilot support programme for those practices rated as ‘requires improvement’. The pilot aims to supports practices to improve and achieve a ‘good’ rating at re-inspection by providing the practice with:
The pilot was for twenty one practice and twenty of the 35 practices rated ‘requires improvement’ signed up across Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge CCGs.
The CCG delivers a range of resources for practices to support them to make recommended improvements and meet CQC requirements, including template policies and procedures and online training resources.
