Public Health England Guidance

  • Reminder: Infant pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13) schedule
Public Health England has published guidance for healthcare practitioners on changes to the infant pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV13) schedule. Included in this guidance is what to do if infants are given the incorrect schedule for their date of birth – for infants born on/after 1 January 2020 who are inadvertently given a dose of PCV13 before 12 weeks of age, they should be offered a second dose of PCV13 from 12 weeks of age allowing a minimum interval of 4 weeks between PCV13 doses. All children will require a 12 month booster dose of PCV.
